Hello and welcome back! Today I'm sharing another fun Halloween project. These spooky Halloween Tree paintings are a perfect project for elementary school students. I did this project with my 3rd grade class, but it would work well for any elementary age group!
Supplies:
- Watercolor Paper
- Watercolor Paint
- Paintbrush
- Straw
- Black India Ink
Step 1: Use the watercolor paints to paint a "spooky" nighttime sky scene. Make sure you use lighter colors (not black) so you can see the contrast later on.
Step 2: Use black watercolor paint to create the trunk of your tree. Be sure to leave plenty of room for the branches to spread out, as you won't have exact control of how the branches spread out.
Step 3: Begin to drop the India Ink a few drops at a time at the top of your tree trunk. Add 3-5 drops of ink at a time, you can always add more later on.
Step 4: Take your straw and begin to blow at the India Ink drops from about a 45 degree angle. Spread the ink out until it will no longer travel any further on the paper.
Step 5: Continue this cycle with the ink until you're satisfied with how your tree branches look.
Enjoy!!!
